Mumbai : The chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday has asked officials to focus on tracing patients of coronavirus and contacts.With 300 more fatalities, Maharashtra’s COVID deaths crossed the 17,000 mark in last 24 hours while the state recorded 10,483 more cases. However, the state recovery rate went up from 65.94 per cent to 66.76 per cent. In some positive development, Mumbai deaths dropped below the 50-plus range with cases below 900.
Pune district, another hotspot in the state, now has 1.7 lakh cases. Meanwhile, a 36-year-old constable from Beed died due to COVID, taking the state police force toll to 112. In the last 24 hours, 254 fresh cases were reported from state police, taking the tally to 10,427. Constable Shankar Kalsane was the first police personnel to succumb to the virus from Beed. He is survived by his wife, child, and parents. On June 19, Kalsane was injured in a road accident while returning from work.
On the other hand, for the ninth consecutive day, India continued reporting over 50,000 cases, with Saturday recording the over 60,000 cases.
