Tawde and Munde rehabilitated, appointed as new secretaries of national BJP

Vinod Tawde - Pankaja Munde

Mumbai : Two senior BJP leaders, Vinod Tawde and Pankaja Munde were finally rehabilitated by the saffron organisation after including them in the national executive on Saturday.

The BJP president JP Nadda announced his new team in which the disgruntled leaders of Maharashtra, particularly Vinod Tawde and Pankaja Munde, were included as new national secretaries of the party. However, another senior leader Eknath Khadse did not get a place in this executive committee.

The party has also included Lok Sabha member Hina Gavit in the list of national spokespersons. The new team includes Pankaja Munde, Vinod Tawde, Vijaya Rahatkar and Sunil Deodhar as the party’s national secretary from Maharashtra.

It was said that the BJP leadership is not happy with Khadse as he has been at loggerheads with the party leadership ever since Devendra Fadnavis became the CM of Maharashtra in 2014, has now hinted that he may switch sides. This may be one of the reasons that he was not included in the new executive committee of the national unit of the party.

Khadse, a six-time MLA in a row from Muktainagar constituency in Jalgaon, was denied a ticket last year. He blamed internal party politics, specifically Devendra Fadnavis and Girish Mahajan, for denial of a ticket. The party fielded his daughter Rohini, but lost to Shiv Sena’s Chandrakant Nimba Patil. Rumours have been making the rounds about Khadse joining the NCP after Sharad Pawar’s meeting with leaders from Jalgaon a few days ago.
