Mumbai: Good news for the bonded doctors in Maharashtra as the state government on Friday announced a hike in the monthly remuneration of bonded doctors, bringing them on par with their colleagues hired on contract.
While announcing it, the chief minister Uddhav Thackeray said that the decision would help intensify the fight against COVID-19 and provide a morale booster to the healthcare workers. Now as per the revised salaries, bonded doctors working in tribal areas will get Rs 75,000 instead of Rs 60,000 every month. Specialist doctors on bond in the tribal region will now get Rs 85,000 instead of Rs 70,000.
While enhancing the salary, the government also said that all MBBS, MS, MD, diploma and super speciality doctors graduating from government and municipal medical colleges in Maharashtra have to render mandatory service to the government for a stipulated period.
The government also reversed the earlier order which had proposed a reduction in the pay “For doctors on contract and on bond, the Maharashtra State government has decided to not just enhance pay, but bring it at par.
