Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation has urged the people of the city for their support in the fight against Coronavirus. It also requested the people to cooperate the administration for implementation of 10-day lockdown to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
The number of positive cases of coronavirus has been rising dramatically across Pune. When it comes to the worst-affected regions, Warje-Karvenagar saw cases rise at 117.55 percent from June 28 to July 4 and at 59.90 percent from July 05 to 11. Hadapsar-Mundhwa has been next in the list of worst-affected regions with Kondhwa-Yeolewadi third.
In view of the prevailing situation, the authorities had to take the tough call of enforcing a stricter lockdown. But now, the civic body needs the support of people in making this lockdown a success.
A senior official of Pune Municipal Corporation said, “We request all Pune residents to support the PMC. We are planning to focus on the three ‘I’s – identification of suspected patients, increased contact tracing and testing, and increase in dedicated Covid beds.”
The corporation is hoping to curb the spread of the virus by implementing its three ‘I’s strategy. Pune is among the worst-affected cities in Maharashtra.
