Owaisi postpones its meeting in Mumbai in view of Delhi situation

Mumbai :- The scheduled public meeting of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi at Bhiwandi against the CAA and NRC was cancelled following a request of state police to the leader of AIMIM in view of the on-going tension in the national capital, Delhi on the issue. The confrontation took the form of communal violence that left about 34 dead so far. The riots are the worst such clashes, bloodshed and arson to hit Delhi in decades and coincided with US President Donald Trump’s first official visit to India.

Sena compares Delhi violence to a “horror film”

The meeting was scheduled for Thursday evening. The police had requested the organisers to postpone the rally in view of the prevailing situation in the country, a senior police informed. Owaisi was scheduled to address the rally at Parshuram Taware Stadium in Dhobi Talao area of Bhiwandi 6 pm onwards. The local unit of AIMIM had organised the rally. However, the Bhoiwada Police Station on Wednesday sent a letter to the party’s local unit, urging it to postpone the event.

Later, the AIMIM Lok Sabha member from Aurangabad Imtiaz Jaleel said, the AIMIM chief MP Owaisi public meeting in Bhivandi near Mumbai to be held today evening stands postponed after police deny permission and request the event to be held at a later date. “We assure that same would now be held in 2nd week of March under the leadership of Khalid Guddu,” the Lok Sabha member further informed.
