Aurangabad :- The NCP suffered a major setback in Marathawada when its senior leader and former Maharashtra minister Jaidutta Kshirsagar has decided to severe ties with the party and support the BJP nominee from Beed, Pritam Munde in the ensuing elections.
The Beed MLA, Jaidutta is a prominent OBC leader in the state, held a long meeting with his supporters from across the district at a function hall in the city on Friday. After the meeting, he announced, “I have decided to strengthen the hands of Modi and I request all my followers and supporters to help BJP-Shiv Sena-RPI win the Lok Sabha election. I request you to support Pritam Munde.”
The senior NCP leader alleged that he was being pushed to the brim for the last two years under one or the other pretext by the NCP leadership. “I observed patience but many elements in the NCP took it as my weakness,” he said.
Referring to the funds granted by the BJP government for development projects in Beed, he said irrespective of his party affiliation, the BJP leadership extended its support for the development. “Now, the situation warrants that we strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At present, there is no one in the country to match his stature. Modi has been working to strengthen the country, while his opponents are taking stand for the benefit of Pakistan,” he said.
Jaidutta, who has been with the NCP since its inception and was a minister for 13 years, has fallen out with the leadership due to a variety of reasons, including entry of opposition leader in legislative council Dhananjay Munde into the party. The final nail in the coffin was the selection of Sandeep Kshirsagar, Jaidutt’s nephew, for the by-poll being held in the ward number of 11 of Beed municipal council. Incidentally, Jaidutta and his brother Bharatbhushan Kshirsagar have their homes in this ward. Jaidutta had supported another candidate who lost to Sandeep by a margin of about 350 votes.
