Modi will again return as PM after 2019 polls: Athawale

Athawale

Nagpur: The junior union minister for social justice Ramdas Athawale is fully backing Narendra Modi to win 2019 general elections and is hopeful that he would return as the next prime minister.

Athawale, who was in the city to review the appointments of SC/ ST candidates in seats reserved for them in NMC and Zilla Parishad and to get status check on housing for poor and schemes like Mudra, asserted that the BJP with allies would win comfortably on the basis of its developmental agenda and good work done in last five years. He made it clear that the BJP has only one candidate for PM post unlike the floundering Congress-led Mahagatbandhan which has several aspirants for the post.

Answering a question he said that the union minister for transport, Nitin Gadkari is his close friend. However, this time, Modi should be given another chance as the prime Minister of the country. “Gadkari is my good friend and has made a mark with his good work in the government. But I will go with Modi as PM for 2109. Maybe in 2024 Gadkari could get a chance.”

On Priyanka Gandhi getting important position in the Congress, he said it would hardly make any impact in elections. “Mere resemblance to Indiraji may not be enough, she is yet to prove she has mettle that her grandmother possessed,” said the Dalit leader.
