MNS attacks Sena on extortion

Sandeep Deshpande

Mumbai :- The MNS on Thursday attacked the ruling Shiv Sena for extorting money from hawkers and petty businessmen.

The MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande has released receipts allegedly issued by a local Shiv Sena leader in Vikhroli asking hawkers for Rs 10 per day in extortion. What is unique is that the receipts bear pictures of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s brother and local MLA Sunil Raut as well as of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Minister Aaditya Thackeray and Sena founder Bal Thackeray.

Deshpande insisted that the Sena leaders should speak on the issue and initiate action against the concerned Sena activists. He said that several Sena leaders and activists are misusing the power and extorting money from traders, businessmen and hawkers.
On the other hand, the state Congress leader Ravi Raja said that the party will not extend support to any illegal activity. He said an inquiry should be held if any illegal is being done by the Sena activists.
