Even after the top court of the country dismissed the pleas seeking a fresh probe into the alleged mysterious death of special CBI Judge BH Loya, a “politics of vendetta” has begun by re-opening the Loya case in the state.
Justice Loya died in December 2014 while presiding over the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court hearing the high-profile case on the killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in a staged encounter with the police in 2005. The judge’s death—which followed complaints of chest pain—became controversial after his family members alleged foul play in a magazine article published in 2017.
While ruling Court stated that judge Loya died of natural causes, the Supreme Court in 2018 itself said that the petitions were a serious attempts to scandalise and obstruct the course of justice, the new Maha-Vikas Aghadi is again trying to re-open the case to settle the scores for an obvious reason.
Its a well-known fact that while rejecting the plea in 2018 with strong words, a bench of the Apex Court, comprising the then Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud said it was clear that judge Loya died a natural death and there was ‘not a shred of doubt’ about it, the new government is still banking on those who have a tendency to spread negativity and believe only in “hate politics.”
The controversy generated when the Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh said that he would be meeting some people who are close to the BH Loya case and want to give some fresh evidence in the case. “I will be meeting some people, and will not be disclosing their names for obvious reasons. They want to present to me some additional information in the case. I will listen to their demands and study documents in detail. If there is a need felt to re-open the case, that too will be done,” Deshmukh said.
Deshmukh, who is from NCP, is incidentally also from Nagpur, where Loya died in 2014. Justice Loya had travelled to Nagpur to attend a wedding of a colleague’s daughter on 30 November 2014. He stayed at Ravi Bhavan, a state government guest house and on morning of 1st December at around 4 am, he developed chest pain and was taken to two hospitals—first at Dande Hospital near Ravi Nagar square and later Meditrina Multi-Speciality hospital at Ramdaspeth—where he died at 6.15am of cardiac arrest. And the Home minister knows each and every fact about the death but pressure has been created on him .
As per sources It was said that few ultra-left activists-cum-journalists from Mumbai met Pawar a few days ago, along with the senior NCP minister Jitendra Awhad and succeeded in convincing him for a fresh probe into the case. And immediately Pawar demanded a fresh investigation into the Loya death case. Now Deshmukh saying that people who have reached out to him have some documents, copies of call records and some videos to share.Political analysts are questioning the real motto of re-examination of Justice Loya case and attention given to it instead of addressing the grave issue of Farmers , when Maharashtra has surpassed other states in farmer suicides in last 3 months due to political uncertainty in the state.
