Mumbai : The Maharashtra government would announce its decision to reopen the colleges across the state in a day or two, announced the minister for higher and technical education, Uday Samant.
All the colleges in the state, along with all the other educational institutes in Maharashtra, were shut down in March 2020 in view of the rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and the nationwide lockdown imposed by the union government.
The minister, Sawant said that after the final decision regarding the reopening of colleges in Maharashtra is taken, the government will issue a list of Standard Operating Procedures to all colleges and universities in the state in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Several states in the country have started reopening the educational institutes in their areas with several Covid-19 guidelines in place for the safety of the students and the staff. Many schools and colleges have reopened in January this year.
The state government has also allowed all cities to reopen the schools for students of classes 5 to 12, except for Mumbai. As of now, the classes for college and university students are being conducted online in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
