Good news for Maharashtra; COVID-19 cases reduce

Mumbai : Good news for the state as the number of COVID-19 cases continued to dip for the sixth day on Tuesday. With a spike of 10,244 new cases, the tally rose to 14, 53,653 in last 24 hours.

According to the state health department, Maharashtra also saw the recovery of 12,982 patients, taking the cumulative count of recoveries to 11.62-lakh. The recovery rate in the state is 80 per cent. With 263 new people succumbing to the infection, the total fatality count went up to 38,347 in the state.

However, the number of COVID-19 cases continues to remain high in Mumbai. As many as 1,812 patients tested positive for the virus in last 24 hours. With the spike in new cases, the tally increased to 2.15 lakh. The recovery rate of Mumbai stands at 83 per cent.

On the other hand, the COVID-19 case count in Thane district rose to 1, 82,776, after 1,277 more persons tested positive for the infection. Apart from the latest cases detected, the district also recorded 27 casualties that took the toll to 4,616.

Meanwhile, Pune district reported 1,240 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking its total count to 2, 95,251. With 51 people succumbing to the infection, the toll mounted to 6,867.
