CWG 2018: Venkat R. Ragala won the gold medal in Weightlifting

Gold Coast: Indian weightlifter Venkat R. Ragala , gave the country the fourth gold medal by finishing at the top position in the men’s 85kg Commonwealth Games 2018 weightlifting final.

In the snatch events, Rahul started by lifting 147 and later successfully lifted 151 (in two attempts) to earn himself the joint-top spot in the snatch events. Samoa’s Don Opeloge also matched Rahul’s best in snatch, by recording a 151 kg lift himself, going into the clean & jerk events.

The gold medal meant that India now have four gold, all of which have come in the sport of weightlifting. India have six medals in total with four gold, one silver and one bronze so far in Gold Coast. P Gururaja (56 kg), Mirabai Chanu (48kg), Sathish Kumar (77kg), Sanjita Chanu (53kg), Deepak Lather (69 kg) have already making the country proud.
