COVID-19: State touches almost 60,000 cases

Mumbai : Maharashtra continues to have the highest number of Covid-19 cases, at 59,546. It was the first state to confirm around 60,000 coronavirus cases and the number of fatalities in the state rose to 1,454, highest in India.

According to available information, Maharashtra reported 2,598 new COVID-19 patients which took the tally of cases in the state to 59,546. With 85 new virus-related fatalities, the death toll due to the pandemic reached 1,982. In a major relief to non-COVID patients, the BMC along with an NGO has launched a dashboard on availability of beds in hospitals which receives real-time updates.

Eleven out of the total 24 civic administrative wards in Mumbai together constitute more than 23,193 of the over 35,000 coronavirus positive cases detected in the city so far, the ward-wise data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has revealed.

Mumbai continues to be the worst-affected city across the country due to the pandemic. The total number of coronavirus positive cases in Mumbai has increased to over 35,000 by Friday as more than 1,400 cases were reported on Thursday.
