Nagpur: The vocal BJP legislator, Gopichand Padalkar on Saturday lashed out at the Maha-Vikas-Aghadi government for not providing adequate funds to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Research and Training Institute (MahaJyoti) while it provided sufficient funds to Sarathi Sanstha.
The then Devendra Fadnavis government had set up MahaJyoti for the social, educational and economic development of OBC students and community. He said that the then BJP government had provided Rs 380-crore for the institute while this government had given a meagre Rs 80-crore for the training and development of OBC students.
The deputy chief minister of the state, Ajit Pawar sanctioned funds to Sarthi Sanstha in one day. Then do his hands tremble while giving funds to Mahajyoti Sanstha? ”, Asked the BJP legislator.
Targeting the Thackeray government he said, “Give Rs 500 crore to the MahaJyoti immediately for the welfare of OBC community as per its population in the state. Criticising the MVA government for its “casual approach” on the OBC community, he said, “The Fadnavis government had given Rs 380-crore to Mahajyoti. But Mahajyoti Sanstha is being ignored by the present state government. This government deliberately did not provide sufficient fund to Mahajyoti. This government is doing injustice to OBCs and helping a particular community.”
Answering a question he said that looking at the statements made by the ministers in the government in the last few days, it seems that an attempt is being made to create a rift between Marathas and OBCs. At the same time, this government has not held any meeting to give reservation to the Dhangar community, Padalkar further said.
