Nashik: The villagers near the project of Bham Dam in Igatpuri taluka raised their demand to district collector Radhakrishnan B for rehabilitation of people and early settlement of their issues when latter visited the village recently.
The primary demand of people residing in the area happens to be the earlier settlement of the displaced people. “There have been long pending demand of the locales – largely of employment but that is not happening. We are demanding the same,” Ramdas Ghare one of the farmers said.
The farmers said that almost all the villagers were tribal and many have lost their fertile land to the project of Bham Dam. The farmers have cooperated with the departments for construction of the same, but now none of the departments were coming forth for the rehabilitation of the farmers.
“The district administration should stress on ways and means to generate employment for farmers and their dependants. We are here to demand the same from the district administration,” said Sunanda Ghare, another resident.
The district administration however claimed that much of the works related to rehabilitation were accomplished and few related to providing of few of the amenities have been expedited and shall be over soon.
