Aurangabad: The revenue of the Siddharth Garden of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has reduced after notes cancellation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.
The number of tourists visiting the garden came down drastically from November 9 to 14. After November 15, the number began to increase again gradually.
Before the notes cancellation, the AMC used to get amounts in the range of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh. However, immediately after the notes cancellation, the revenue dropped to Rs 1 8,000. The civic body charges Rs 20 as entry fee for the adults and Rs 10 for children. It also charges fees for entry in the zoo.
Though the AMC earns annual revenue of Rs 2 crore through the garden, the money is not spent on its development. Daily, nearly 1000 children visit the garden but they are disappointed due to the broken toys. Recently, the administration has decided to repair the toys and install new ones. Dustbins will also be provided at different places in the garden.
