Around 775 COVID-19 cases reported in 14 jails of Maharashtra

Mumbai: The state administration and particularly the Home department perturbed over the increasing positive cases of COVID-19 in different jails in Maharashtra. Around 775 cases of coronavirus were reported from 14 different jails in the state, including Mumbai Central Prison and Nagpur Central Jail, so far.

According to available information, a total of 774 cases have been reported from 14 jails in the state so far, comprising 600 jail inmates and 174 employees, most of whom have recovered while four have died.

Among these jails, the Nagpur Central prison is the worst-affected with 219 cases, followed by Mumbai Central Jail which has 181, while Akola and Solapur prisons have 72 and 62 cases respectively, the Home Ministry said.
