AIMIM contests from Aurangabad

Aurangabad: Asaduddin Owaisi led AIMIM would contest only the Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency, A predominantly Muslim constituency in the state.

Making an announcement in this regard, Owaisi said that his party would contest only one Lok Sabha seat—Aurangabad—in this elections. “AIMIM has decided that it will be only contesting ONLY the Aurangabad parliamentary constituency in Maharashtra and will not be contesting Mumbai or any other seat,” Owaisi tweeted on Wednesday.

The AIMIM on Tuesday announced the candidature of Imtiaz Jaleel from Aurangabad. The party is contesting Lok Sabha elections outside Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for the first time.

The AIMIM has fielded its Bihar unit chief Akthter ul Imam from Kishanganj, another predominantly Muslim area, in Lok Sabha polls.

On the other hand, Owaisi, the president of AIMIM, is also contesting from Hyderabad and seeking re-election.

The AIMIM, however, is a part of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, floated jointly by Prakash Ambedkar and Owaisi.
