Action against Cricketer Raina, Suzanne Khan and others for violating COVID-19 norms

Mumbai : The Mumbai police have started gearing up to ensure implementation of night curfew from 11 pm to 6 am strictly in the metro region. In an action in this regard, the capital police on Tuesday arrested several people, including cricketer, Suresh Raina, playback singer, Guru Randhawa and Bollywood celebrity, Suzanne Khan, who is also the ex-wife of well-known actor, Hrithik Roshan for violating the COVID-19 norms and guidelines.

The Mumbai informed that they were arrested from a hotel near the airport this morning. Mumbai police raided the club and arrested 34 people, including seven hotel staff, for violating the Covid-19 pandemic prohibitory regulations imposed by the Maharashtra government.

According to a senior police official, the raid was conducted at about 3 a.m. on Tuesday morning. . Everyone was later released on bail.

The state government on Monday announced night curfew from 11 pm to 6 am in major cities across the state from 22 December to 5 January as a precautionary measure amid mounting fears about a new coronavirus variant spreading in UK. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held a meeting in the light of the situation in the UK.

Meanwhile, a spokesman from Raina clarified that Suresh was in Mumbai for a shoot which extended to late hours and was invited by a friend for a quick dinner post the same prior to him taking his flight back to Delhi. He was not aware of the local timings and protocols. Once pointed out, he immediately complied with the procedures laid out by the authorities and regrets the unfortunate and unintentional incident.
