8.5 kilos of gold, 1.5 crore cash seized in Nipani, 3 booked

Belgaon : Police have detained a gang of six people who were smuggling gold. Police have seized 8.5 kilo of gold and a 1.5 crore cash from them.

The names of the arrested are Shripal Champalak Chavan, Ranjit Kimsingh Rajput, Kantilal Sunilal Kumarwana, Darshit Lalit Parmar resident of Mumbai, Harsha Shripal Porwal and Praveen Bansilal Porwal both resident of Belgaon.

As per the information, the gang has been smuggling gold since last few days. They use to supply gold to jwellers in Nipani, Gokak and Ichalkaranji. At around 5 am on Friday (today), the gang was going to Belgaon from Mumbai, when Nipani police arrested them at the Pune-Bangalore National Highway. They seized a total amount of 1.5 crore including 8.5 kg of gold and one swift car.

The action was taken by the special squad, which includes Nepani API Kishor Bharani and Faujdar Nigangaud Patil. The district police chief Dr B. R. Ravi Kant Gauda and D. Sub. s. Angdi congratulated Nipani police.
