Nagpur: Two men were killed by the naxalites at Markegaon near Sawargaon at Mahatashtra-Chhattigadh borders in north Gadchiroli after branding them as police informers. The murders came to fore on Saturday. The toll of civilians is now seven in last two weeks.
According to reports, the victims of the latest naxalite violence had returned to their village from Gadchiroli where they had earlier shifted following threats issued by the Maoists.
It was said that armed naxalites entered the villages of Mullulmeta and Kosmi and both the trbals were taken by the naxalites on Friday night. Their bodies were found dumped in a village nearby on Saturday morning. They have been identified as: Girma Kudyami of Mullulmeta and V Samru of Kosmi village under Dhanora tahsil.
This comes days after three villagers from Kasnasur under Bhamragarh tehsil of Gadchiroli were shot dead on Monday night. Ultra-leftists killed these people on suspicion of being police informers and held them responsible for the deaths of over 40 senior activists of CPI (Maoist), including two senior functionaries of the organisation, who were killed in encounters in April last year in the jungle of Rela-Kasnasur, bordering Chhattisgarh.
