184 new mobile towers to be erected in Sindhudurg district

New Delhi: Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha has said that in order to improve mobile and internet connectivity in rural areas of Sindhudurg district, as many as 184 additional mobile towers will be erected in this district soon.

Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha has given this information to Union Commerce, Trade and Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu by a letter. According to letter, under the 2-G scheme for expanding the network of mobile and broadband network in the rural areas of Sindhudurg district, proposal for setting up of 110 mobile towers of two-capacity capacity of 74-wheelers with capacity have been approved.

Mr. Sinha in his letter to Mr Prabhu said that the network will be improved by national optical fiber network and infrastructure for expanding the network of mobile and broadband facilities in Sindhudurg district. At present, there are 188 2-G and 68 3-G mobile towers in different talukas of Sindhudurg district. However, tourists’ crowds in this region have been maintained due to famous and beautiful coastal sites. Therefore, there is need to improve the mobile services especially in the rural areas is. Mr. Sinha has informed about the proposal to erect 184 new mobile towers to improve the good mobile and internet connectivity.

Mr Sinha told in the letter that besides, 365 gram panchayats in Ratnagiri district will also be provided with modern broadband facilities.

Broadband will be connected to 368 Gram Panchayats in Sindhudurg district. This will improve the telecom infrastructure of this district, this was stated by the Telecom Minister.
